About Soroptimist International
Soroptimist International is a worldwide organization for
women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups. in a wide variety of professions.
Soroptimists focus on "making a difference for
women," through club projects, and by engaging in
awareness, advocacy and action in the service of her community and society to
make the world a better place for humankind.
A Soroptimist is a leader in her
community, Many noteworthy women have been Soroptimists, including a
United States Supreme Court justice; the first woman to serve as the mayor of a
large city in the United States; and the 1962 recipient of the United States
President’s Award for Distinguished Civilian Service.
The word Soroptimist was coined from two Latin words,
"soror" and "optima," which loosely translates as "best
for women."

| We are having our Soroptimist Summer gathering on July
26th at 1:00 p.m. at Alverta's home - please refer to you email for
address and phone number or email Margaret at the address below.
Spouses and significant others are welcome to
attend.
Please bring a dish to share, preferably something
that is in or going to be in our recipe book. This is truly
potluck. We may end up with 10 desserts, or 10 side dishes or any
strange combination, but it should be entertaining. If you have questions
or need directions, just let me know. Otherwise just let me know
if you can attend.
